Cancer biology is a personal matter to me. I almost lost my mother to metastatic ovarian cancer in 2013, and immediately decided to study these devastating diseases, or what we would call the emperor of all maladies. It's interesting, and perhaps quite unsettling to learn how cancer cells are capable of exploiting the machinery that's used by normal cells to sustain their uncontrollable growth and spread. My goal is to target these aberrant signalling cascades to stop the spread of cancers.
