A molecular immunologist dissecting the exquisite assembly and function of antiviral immune systems

I am a biomedical scientist because I must be. It's an insatiable impulse that stems from living each day on the edge of a potentially great harvest of new information useful to society. From one moment to the next, grand ideas come then melt away like sandcastles as new -- and more exciting -- information comes to hand. It's the thrill of investigation, self-improvement and enhancing the human condition. As a scientist, these are an expression of freedom and can even be a ticket to the world.
