Molecular-level understanding of the processes that occur within a complex series of ILs and DESs.
The long-term goal of our research develop a better molecular-level understanding of the processes that occur within a complex series of ILs and DESs and their cosolvent-modified mixtures that will help develop further knowledge and potential applications of these possible green and inexpansive solvents in extractions, separations and chemical reactions with an eye towards expanding the overall utility of ILs and DESs as environmentally-benign solvent systems for industrial applications. Towards this, we propose to investigate various excited-state aggregation and complexation processes within select ILs, DESs and their judiciously selected cosolvent mixtures. We envision that our studies will not only afford key information regarding excimer and exciplex formation in these complex fluidic systems; they will provide insights into the interactions present within these systems also.
