Immunological tolerance and macrophages at the maternal-foetal interface.

Our study examines the effect of HIV-1 and Antiretroviral drug exposure on the biology of decidual macrophages and Hofbauer cells of the placenta important in the regulation of pregnancy. The abstract accepted for the above-mentioned conference examined the phenotype and distribution of macrophages at the maternal-foetal interface of mothers who were stable on ARVs prior to pregnancy and those who initiated ARVs at 20 weeks of gestations.
