A catalytic system comprising an organoaluminum compound, polychloromethane, and a transition metal complex transforms cyclohexane into dimethyldecalins, cyclooctane into dimethyl- and ethylcyclohexanes, and endo-tricyclo[,6]decane into its exo-isomer under mild conditions.
