The kinetic parameters of dehydrochlorination (DHCL) process of PVC and PVC mixed with different amount of ZnCl2 have been determined by using thermogravimetric analysis. These values have been compared with those obtained by using UV-visible spectroscopic analysis of PVC film containing ZnCh degraded at different temperatures. The values of apparent activation energy (Ea) decreases with the increase of the amount of ZnCl2 and the values obtained in the present work are in reasonable comparison with previous works. The catalytic effect of ZnCl2 on PVC DHCL process is explained here.
