Abstract

Phenazocine is an effective agent for use in children. The dosage range varies between 0.01 and 0.02 mg./kg. A reasonable dosage of phenazocine may be calculated as being approximately 1/10 that of morphine and 1/100 that of meperidine. Phenazocine is an effective adjunct for use with nitrous oxide-oxygen anaesthesia, especially if the anaesthesiologist is skilled in assisted or controlled respiration techniques.
