Abstract

The present paper is concerned with an extension to the thermoelastic case of the theory for small deformations superposed to large ones, devoted to the study of the seismological effects of the prestressed state existing within the Earth. Now the energy balance, including both mechanical and thermodynamical terms, is postulated in order to derive the field equations. The equations of motion and the reciprocity and representation theorems show that extra body force terms must be considered to describe the effects of temperature changes from the initial state.
