Abstract

Low-waste controllable methods of nitriding in a closed volume providing nitrided cases with the specified phase composition and a reduction in ammonia consumption of 2–10 times have been developed.The method of cyclic (pulsed) nitriding in a closed volume includes periodic delivery of a portion of the impregnating medium and a controlled hold in the closed working volume of the furnace until complete utilization of its impregnating capacity.Combined two-stage nitriding includes continuous nitriding in the first stage of the process and diffusion annealing in an atmosphere of nitrogen or dissociated ammonia in a closed volume in the second stage of impregnation.
