A rapid method, with minimalsample preparation and nochromatography, was developedfor analyzing food samples suchasolive oil and pomegranatejuice to measure adulterationwith cheaper ingredientsusing the novel Direct SampleAnalysis<sup>™</sup> (DSA) ion source inconjunction with a time-of-flight(TOF)-MS. In less than 30 s, withminimal sample preparationand method development,adulteration of olive oil andpomegranate juice with cheaperseed oils and fruit juices,respectively, was measured withDSA/TOF-MS.
