An annual survey of the practice patterns of the members of the Canadian Ophthalmological Society (COS) in cataract surgery has been performed since 2009.1–7 This was the eighth survey. The response rate was 41.2%. The majority of the respondents (57%) have been in practice for 20 years or more. Nearly half (48.2%) of the respondents performed between 50 and 99 cataract surgeries per month. It is encouraging to see that 89.8% of the respondents used a checklist before cataract surgery. Of note, 45% of these volunteered finding a potential error by doing so.
