Abstract

A kinetic study has been made of the reaction of C5-dehydrocyclization of 2,2,4-trimethylpentane on platinized carbon in a circulating-flow reactor in the presence of hydrogen.A kinetic isotope effect of 2.0 has been found when hydrogen is replaced by deuterium.A stagewise reaction scheme corresponding to an associative mechanism has been proposed, and a kinetic equation that is consistent with experiment has been derived.
