Interparticle welding, mechanical properties and fracture behaviour of LaCrO3-Cr cermets

Abstract

The temperature dependence of strength, fracture toughness, work-of-fracture and creep rate of LaCrO3-Cr cermets has been studied. The influence of structure formation conditions on mechanical properties was also investigated. The best results have been obtained for cermets made under conditions of restricted volume interaction of constituent phases. The mechanical properties are discussed in terms of energy dissipation in the crack tip zone.
