An electrochemical probe has been developed for determining hydrogen contents in molten aluminum alloys. The probe incorporates calcium hydride as a solid electrolyte and a calcium/calcium hydride mixture as the reference material. The testing of such probes under industrial conditions is described and the results are compared with existing analytical methods.
