Abstract

Darcy’s approach has limited application for assessing the air permeability of needle-punch materials due to the complex dependence of the air-permeability coefficient on the thickness of the materials. The air-permeability coefficient is determined by the pore volume of the materials. Air transfer varies for needle-punch materials with a relatively low pore volume due to a change in the packing of the fibres.
