Diffusive time-evolving block decimation method for matrix product states in one-dimensional spinless fermion systems

Abstract

We describe a simple method to find the ground-state energy for many-fermion systems via a diffusive time-evolving block decimation method. Matrix product states are used as candidates for an approximate ground state. We consider fermion exchange effects caused by hopping while updating the matrix product states consistently. This method is applicable to a wide class of fermion systems. We test this method in a spinless fermion system by comparing the ground-state energy in the thermodynamic limit to the exact value.
